Hall of Fame Coins Bring New Meaning to Mint Condition
Yesterday, the United States House of Representatives voted to authorize a series of commemorative coins honoring the National Baseball Hall of Fame's 75th anniversary.
Up to 50,000 $5 gold coins, 400,000 $1 silver coins and 750,000 half-dollar coins will be issued in 2015. For those wondering about such an undertaking during these tight financial times, the coins will not cost the U.S. Treasury or taxpayers anything extra. Of course, collectors adding the coins to their collection might have a lighter wallet.
Introduced as a bill, it's expected to pass through the Senate before reaching the President's office.
The design stage of the coins hasn't started, so there are no details on who will be featured on them or what the design will be.
If and when the coins are produced, collectors looking for an investment will want to buy uncirculated versions of the coins as they hold the most value.
