Allen & Ginter George Washington DNA Hair Relic Card Hits The Auction Block
One of the highly publicized 2007 Topps Allen and Ginter George Washington DNA Hair Relic Cards has resurfaced once again for sale on the open market, this time appearing on eBay. The card, one of three George Washington DNA Hair Relics from the 2007 Topps Allen and Ginter Baseball Card Set, is the second to hit the open market. The first 2007 Topps Allen and Ginter George Washington DNA Hair Relic Card was reportedly sold for over $30,000.00.
This is the only one of the three DNA relic cards that has been professionally graded. It is graded a BGS 9 overall with subgrades of 9.0, 9.0, 9.5, and 9.0. This extremely rare gem contains an actual piece of our first President's hair and not part of the hairpiece that everyone remembers Mr. Washington wearing. The hair's white color obviously signifies that the sample was taken later in his life. The graded relic boasts a Buy It Now price of $29,999.95, although the seller is also accepting offers for the card. The auction is scheduled to run from now until June 9th.
Topps took a stab at something different with 2006 Topps Allen and Ginter Baseball. The rebirth of the 19th century Allen and Ginter trading card brand has proven to be a huge hit will collectors, quickly becoming one of Topps' most popular sports card brands in its high powered arsenal of products. It has also become one of the most talked about Topps products, largely due to the inclusion of cards like the George Washington DNA Hair Relic, as well as other rare, non-traditional inserts that not only capture the interest of collectors, but also of the public at large.
