1933 Goudey Baseball Cards

In 1919, the Goudey Gum Company was founded by Enos Gordon Goudey. He opened his first factory in Boston, Massachusetts, eventually earning the distinction of being known as the penny gum king of America.

The up and coming business tycoon threw his hat into the baseball card arena with the debut of 1933 Goudey. The 240 card set was the first sports card product that came with bubble gum in each pack. Included in this set was one of the rarest baseball cards from a mainstream set which was card #106. This card was of a retired player named Napolean Lajoie and was unique because it featured a 1934 card front while appearing on the back as if it was printed in 1933. This card is known as one of the Big Three vintage baseball cards. The other two are from the infamous T206 set (Honus Wagner and Eddie Plank).
