2014 Panini Rookies & Stars Football mixes things up with several levels of unique inserts that aren't all about autographs and memorabilia. The hits are still here, but so are several other basic inserts, each with their own designs and themes.

Hobby boxes come with a total of four hits. Two are guaranteed to be autographs. The remaining pair could be a mix of memorabilia or additional signed cards.

Rookies Longevity Autographs feature 100 signers. Besides basic versions, there are eight levels of parallels numbered to 99 or less.

Rookie Materials takes a similar approach but with player-worn gear from 40 first-year players. The parallels are plentiful here as well with nine different tiers numbered to 299 or less. With the addition of an autograph, these become Rookie Material Signatures, which have another eight parallels numbered to 299 or less.

Veterans do have an autograph presence in Materials Signatures. The 20-card set has seven parallels numbered to 49 or less.

Other memorabilia offerings in 2014 Panini Rookies & Stars Football include Freshman Orientation Prime Materials (40 cards, #/25 or less), Dress for Success Prime Materials ($0 cards, #/25 or less) and Cross Training Materials Prime (20 cards, #/25 or less).

Leading the basic inserts is the return of Crusade. The checklist has 50 veterans and 50 rookies. These cards combine to land eight per hobby box (1:3 packs). As with past years, Crusade cards come with lots of color: Blue, Red (#/99), Purple (#/49), Gold (#/25), Green (#/5) and Black (1/1).

Other inserts include Draft Class (25 cards, 1:8 packs), Pro Bowl (25 cards, 1:8 packs), Super Bowl (25 cards, 1:8 packs), AKA Stars (20 cards, #/25 or less)Slideshow returns with cards that have actual slides embedded in them. The 40-card checklist has both signed (#/101 or less) and unsigned (#/25 or less) versions.

  1. I would venture to say that this doesn’t look nearly as good as the Elite set, which has too many sticker autographs anyways. I won’t be interested in this. Might buy some recycled lots, that’s about it. Nobody wants event worn materials. Might as well be from my sock drawer.
