2013 Topps Opening Day Baseball Variations Short Prints Guide

2013 Topps Opening Day Baseball variations are a time of celebration and a time of change -- literally. The tough variation short prints highlight several of the biggest off-season trades and free agent signings. They also celebrate the post-season appearances of several teams, most notably the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.

Inserted 1:617 packs, there are more than a dozen 2013 Topps Opening Day variation short prints. Big-name players on new teams are shown at press conferences. Their regular cards show them in their new threads and in action. But these cards have been airbrushed on as the set was released before their debuts. The variations are distinct in that there's usually a microphone in front and a corporate backdrop behind them. Justin Hamilton, R.A. Dickey, Jose Reyes and the Upton brothers are among those that fall under this category.

  1. So how many of these SP’s are there? 100s or 1000s. Topps keeps everyone guessing until you see 100s listed on ebay then you begin to wonder.

  2. Lee ยป At 1:600+ packs, I doubt there’s many for each individual player. If this list in complete, quick off-the-top-of-my-head math is about 1:7500 packs for an individual card. And this is a product that has traditionally not been broken widely. Singles should remain relatively tough.

  3. Add #28 Prince Fielder–pulled it today. It is horizontal and he is wearing an American League championship sweatshirt.
