Window Shopping with 2012 Topps Tier One Prodigious Patches

2012 Topps Tier One Baseball Prodigious Patches Ozzie Smith 213x300 ImageSometimes it's fun just to look at cards you know you'll never own. Drool over them, admire their finer points, wish for a Charlie Bucket moment where you find something golden on the street that changes your life forever. From bat knobs to acetate autographs, 2012 Topps Tier One Baseball is a set that's filled oogle-worthy hits. Collectors can add 2012 Topps Tier One Prodigious Patches to the list as well.

Each of the 42 cards in the set have a massive patch piece that takes up much of the front. Because of the size of the patch, there are some awesome results that scream with color. However, not all are this way. Some do have plain white pieces.

A 2012 Topps Tier One Prodigious Patches Stephen Strasburg card has a patch that looks like it came from an autographed jersey. Standard autograph cards have a signing area. The Strasburg card has just his last name signed on the patch. It is also trapped under the patch window.

The checklist mixes current stars and Hall of Famers, offering good variety for those lucky enough to pull one or snag one off the secondary market.

2012 Topps Tier One Prodigious Patches are numbered to 10. There are also 15 autographed versions. Also numbered to 10, most players signed on-card, however some have sticker autographs.

Not surprisingly, these patch cards have been moving well. The top sale on eBay so far was for an Ozzie Smith card featuring a swatch from an old Padres jersey. Five other cards from the set have sold for more than $300 on the site as well.

Here are some 2012 Topps Tier One Prodigious Patches highlights that have popped up so far. Below, you will also find a checklist for the set.
